  • Imagine H2O announces 2026 global accelerator cohort
  • 18 startups from eight countries selected
  • Focus on PFAS, water reuse, AI optimisation and industrial water challenges
  • Technologies designed for near-term deployment in utilities and industry
  • Programme continues expansion of global water innovation pipeline

Imagine H2O 2026 accelerator cohort has been announced, bringing together 18 startups developing water technologies aimed at near-term deployment across utilities and industry.

The global cohort spans eight countries across North America, Europe and Asia, reflecting growing demand for solutions that address urgent water challenges while meeting real-world operational and regulatory requirements.

Imagine H2O 2026 accelerator cohort focuses on real-world deployment

The Imagine H2O programme has increasingly shifted its focus towards technologies that can move beyond pilot stages and into practical implementation.

With tightening regulations around contaminants such as PFAS and rising industrial water demand from sectors including data centres and advanced manufacturing, utilities and operators are under pressure to adopt solutions that are both innovative and deployable.

The 2026 cohort reflects this shift, with startups developing technologies designed to integrate with existing systems and overcome barriers such as procurement complexity and deployment risk.

Startups address PFAS, reuse and AI-driven optimisation

The selected companies are working across key areas including PFAS detection and destruction, water reuse, resource recovery and AI-driven system optimisation.

Examples include electro-active membrane systems to reduce fouling, on-site PFAS destruction technologies, rapid field-based contamination testing, and AI platforms designed to optimise water utility operations.

Several startups are also targeting industrial applications, including wastewater treatment, cooling system optimisation and atmospheric water generation.

The cohort will participate in industry events including San Francisco Climate Week and Singapore International Water Week, where they will engage with utilities, policymakers and investors to explore pilot and commercial deployment opportunities.

Scaling water innovation through global programmes

Since its founding, Imagine H2O has supported more than 270 startups and enabled over 70 pilot projects worldwide, helping accelerate the transition from innovation to implementation.

The organisation has expanded its global footprint through initiatives such as its Water Innovation Pilot Fund, designed to support real-world deployment of emerging technologies.

As the water sector evolves, the emphasis is shifting towards solutions that can deliver immediate operational value, improve resilience and support compliance with increasingly stringent environmental regulations.
