Yorkshire Water has welcomed more than 900 new colleagues since April 2025 as part of its £8.3bn investment programme, marking a significant milestone for the company and the communities it serves.
The recruitment drive supports Yorkshire Water’s largest-ever investment, focused on improving customer service, reducing pollution and leakage, maintaining high-quality drinking water, and protecting rivers and coastal environments across the region.
The expansion of the workforce reflects the scale of activity underway, with new roles spanning engineering, environmental protection, customer service, digital services and operational teams.
Delivering visible improvements
Yorkshire Water said the growing workforce is already helping to deliver improvements that customers and communities experience every day. Since April, teams have repaired more than 15,000 leaks, replaced around 120 kilometres of water mains, upgraded 100,000 smart meters, and provided £34 million in bill support to customers in vulnerable circumstances.
Michelle Naisbitt, Director of People at Yorkshire Water, said the recruitment reflects both the scale of the investment and the importance of people in delivering it.
“This is an incredibly exciting time for Yorkshire Water. Welcoming more than 900 new colleagues since April shows the scale of our ambition and commitment to investing in both our people and the region,” she said.
“Our teams are at the heart of everything we do, and their work is essential in delivering the improvements our customers expect and deserve.”
Further investment planned
Looking ahead, Yorkshire Water is preparing for further investment through 2026. The next 12 months will build on progress made in 2025, when more than 200 investment projects were launched across the region.
Planned work includes additional investment in storm overflow reduction, new water mains, new boreholes and further improvements to customer service.
“The vast majority of people working here are customers too, so we understand what matters most to Yorkshire,” the company said. “We know the work required is complex and will take time to deliver, but we are committed to embracing change and creating a sustainable future for our customers, the environment and our people.”
