Xylem has announced two executive leadership appointments that will take effect on 1 July, strengthening leadership across two of the company’s core business segments.
Meredith Emmerich has been appointed Executive Vice President and President of Measurement and Control Solutions, while Joe Johnston will become Executive Vice President and President of Applied Water. Both executives will report directly to President and Chief Executive Officer Matthew Pine.
Meredith Emmerich to lead Measurement and Control Solutions
Emmerich most recently served as Executive Vice President and President of Applied Water at Xylem, having joined the company in 2024 from Carrier Global Corporation.
Before joining Xylem, she held several senior leadership positions at Carrier, including Vice President of Global Enterprise Solutions, where she led the Americas Commercial HVAC business and the Global Residential, Light Commercial and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) HVAC portfolio.
She succeeds Mike McGann, who will remain with the company as a senior advisor to support an orderly leadership transition before departing later this year following 17 years of service.
Joe Johnston appointed President of Applied Water
Joe Johnston succeeds Emmerich as Executive Vice President and President of Applied Water.
Johnston currently serves as Senior Vice President and General Manager within Xylem’s Water Solutions and Services segment, most recently leading the company’s Global Dewatering business.
Since joining Xylem in 2019, Johnston has held a number of leadership positions across the organisation. Prior to Xylem, he spent more than 25 years in global leadership roles spanning operations, business development and commercial strategy, including serving as Executive General Manager and Managing Director at GE Power, now GE Vernova.
Supporting Xylem’s long-term growth strategy
Matthew Pine, President and Chief Executive Officer of Xylem, said:
“Meredith and Joe are accomplished leaders with deep knowledge of our business. Their experience and enterprise perspective will help us continue to execute our strategy and deliver value for our customers and the communities we serve.”
The appointments form part of Xylem’s ongoing leadership development strategy as the company continues to expand its global portfolio of water technologies supporting utilities, industrial customers and commercial building operators.
