Larger facility for pumps, parts and repairs

The new hub is more than four times the size of Xylem’s previous Toronto facility and increases storage capacity by 350%. It will distribute more than 100,000 Flygt pumps, parts and products annually.

The company said greater inventory and repair capacity in Canada will give customers faster access to critical equipment and service, helping to reduce downtime and keep essential operations running. According to Xylem, the facility is equipped with advanced repair and maintenance capabilities.

Visitors at the opening were shown how testing and engineering are used to deliver water solutions for communities and industries across North America, the company said.

Seven years of growth for Flygt in Canada

The expansion follows seven years of steady growth for Flygt in Canada, according to Xylem. The company said the new hub strengthens support for customers managing ageing water and wastewater infrastructure, stormwater needs and industrial operations.

Pumping equipment is central to many of these activities, from moving wastewater through collection networks to managing stormwater flows. Local stock and repair capacity can therefore be important for operators who need to replace or service equipment quickly.

H2O Global News has previously reported on Xylem’s work in the city, when the company was selected to support the City of Toronto with its Wet Weather Flow Master Plan, which aims to eliminate combined sewage overflows from the sewage collection system.

Xylem Academy for training and collaboration

A dedicated Xylem Academy at the site will serve as a hub for learning and collaboration. It will offer comprehensive education programmes alongside hands-on technical and application training.

The academy is open to customers, channel partners and employees. Xylem said it is intended to help them build skills, adopt new technologies and apply industry best practices.

Bringing services together at the Xylem Toronto hub

Hayati Yarkadas, Executive Vice President and President, Water Infrastructure, Xylem, pointed to the company’s long history in the country. “Canada has been an important part of Xylem’s story since the first Flygt facility in the Americas opened here 71 years ago,” he said.

“This new hub builds on those roots by bringing service, distribution, training and expertise together in one location. It brings us closer to our customers, helping them respond faster, reduce downtime and keep critical operations running,” Yarkadas added.
