Aetherion, a US water solutions company, has said its subsidiary Worth Hydrochem of Houston has doubled the size of its team since Aetherion acquired it in July 2025. According to an announcement dated 19 October 2026, the growth of the Houston water treatment company led to new service offerings and helped support Aetherion’s public launch in September 2026.

Aetherion said the acquisition was integral to its launch strategy and that the business is now growing rapidly as part of the Aetherion brand. The acquired company now operates as Worth Hydrochem of Houston, an Aetherion Company.

Team growth and investment in the first year

According to the company, Worth Hydrochem of Houston has more than doubled its team in the year since the acquisition was completed. It has also expanded its service capability and made significant capital investments in equipment and technology. The company said this has resulted in more services and faster response for customers.

“It has been extremely empowering to see our capacity increase with the backing of Aetherion this past year,” said Brad Kym, President of Worth Hydrochem of Houston. “Their expertise and support have enabled us to greatly accelerate our growth and more fully achieve our mission of excellent service and responsiveness to both existing and new customers.”

A Houston water treatment business since 1975

Founded in 1975, Worth Hydrochem of Houston specialises in chemical water treatment and related technical services for a range of industries. It serves approximately 400 healthcare facilities, educational campuses, commercial buildings, data centres and light manufacturers in the greater Houston area.

Its core service lines include water treatment for HVAC systems, cooling towers, boilers and closed loops. It also provides equipment installation and system commissioning, including mechanical flushing of new system piping. The company also lists system cleaning, water filtration and laboratory testing among its services, and its customers include government and industrial organisations.

Aetherion’s acquisition model

Aetherion invests in and acquires independently owned water treatment companies. It serves mid-sized commercial and industrial facilities with complex, high-intensity water treatment needs. Its services cover water treatment chemicals, water safety consulting, treatment equipment and preventative maintenance, and the commissioning, cleaning and maintenance of water and utility systems.

The company said it aims to give partner companies the resources and operational support to grow. It said it does this while preserving the reputation, relationships and responsiveness that make those companies valuable to their customers. Worth Hydrochem of Houston was its first acquisition.

“We believe Worth Hydrochem of Houston was a perfect first acquisition for us as an accomplished, respected Southeast Texas company that was ready to reach a new level of growth,” said LaMarr Barnes, CEO of Aetherion. “With the backing of Aetherion, Worth Hydrochem of Houston can continue to do the great work they have done for more than 50 years and also substantially grow their water treatment business in the greater Houston area.”

Private equity backing from Iron Path Capital

Aetherion was founded in partnership with Iron Path Capital, a private equity firm that invests in lower-middle-market companies in the healthcare and specialty industrial sectors. The firm has offices in Nashville, Tennessee, and Charlottesville, Virginia. It focuses on businesses that can grow both organically and through consolidation.

“We are delighted to work with Worth Hydrochem of Houston in helping them grow sustainably while continuing their mission to deliver top water treatment service,” said Lexa Heinz, Principal at Iron Path Capital. “They have been excellent partners, and we look forward to a strong future with them and their customers.”
