WEX Global, the conference and meeting event for the water sector, is already counting down the days to its 2023 fixture.
Under the premise of exchanging experiences, philosophies, solutions and methodologies, WEX Global will be re-opening its doors from March 27 to 29, in an initiative which has gained itself a reputation as a must-attend event for the sector.
As in previous years, the 2023 conference will be held in close collaboration with Idrica and Global Omnium, who will be participating as co-hosts and Welcoming Utility, respectively.
For Jaime Barba, CEO of Idrica, WEX Global “plays a key role in finding smart solutions and building a better world together”.
Mark Barber, CEO of WEX Global, also expressed his satisfaction, “We are delighted to be working with these two organisations once again, as they help us to examine the opportunities created by the rapidly developing green digital nexus and especially to analyse the role of digital transformation as a facilitator of climate action, alongside our other major partners”.
WEX Global has chosen Seville, Spain, as the venue for the 2023 event, thus changing its location from Valencia, where the last two summits were held in 2021 and 2022. In this regard, Barber stated that, “After two great meetings in Valencia, we are very excited to be revisiting the iconic city of Seville, where we held the first WEX Global in 2007, and which has been a recognised centre of excellence in water innovation for a long time”.
The importance of digital transformation in the water cycle
The events of recent months in many parts of the world, such as drought, water rationing and high temperatures, highlight the importance of meetings such as WEX, which constitute an opportunity to learn about the opinion of the sector’s experts first hand in order to improve water sustainability. The common thread of this opinion is the digital transformation of the water cycle.
Chema Nebot, Idrica’s Business Development Director, pointed out in this year’s event that “we are currently living in a highly complex environment in which it is essential to find ways to work together. And WEX is the perfect forum to do this, as it enables us to openly share points of view and exchange ideas on our sector’s numerous, highly complex challenges”.
To achieve this, managers from utilities around the world will be attending the 2023 meeting to find new ways to solve today’s water challenges, optimise resources and explore more uses for smart technology.
