Grundfos has launched a new generation of smart pump controllers in Australia with the introduction of the CU 302, designed to support more efficient, reliable and digitally enabled groundwater systems.

The controller has been developed for use with 3-inch and 4-inch SQE submersible pumps in residential and rural groundwater installations, helping maintain constant water pressure while reducing energy use and operational wear.

Smart control for groundwater-dependent households

The launch comes at a time when many Australian households, particularly in regional and rural areas, are increasingly dependent on bore water systems. Groundwater accounts for around 30% of Australia’s total water use, placing growing importance on efficient system operation and long-term resource management.

The CU 302 automatically adjusts pump speed to maintain steady water pressure under varying demand, reducing pressure fluctuations and enabling the use of smaller pressure tanks compared with traditional on–off systems.

Remote monitoring via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

The controller is equipped with both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling remote monitoring, control and commissioning through the Grundfos GO, Grundfos Home and Grundfos Connect platforms.

Grundfos GO is aimed at professional installers, providing access to setup tools and operational data, while Grundfos Home allows homeowners to receive notifications and performance insights. Integration with the web-based Grundfos Connect platform enables remote oversight of pump systems, supporting proactive maintenance and faster fault identification.

Remote monitoring has been shown to significantly reduce unnecessary site visits, which is particularly valuable in Australia where installers often cover large geographic areas.

Designed for easy replacement and long-term efficiency

The CU 302 shares identical dimensions with its predecessor, allowing straightforward replacement in existing installations. By optimising pump operation, the controller helps minimise energy consumption, reduce mechanical wear and extend system lifespan.

Sam Ryder, Regional Managing Director for Oceania at Grundfos, said the controller represents a shift towards more proactive and data-driven water system management, enabling both homeowners and professionals to address issues before they develop into failures.

The CU 302 forms part of Grundfos’ wider portfolio of digital water solutions, supporting more sustainable use of energy and water resources across residential and utility applications.
