Following years of research and development, Q Companies has officially launched FlowStat, the world’s first instant water usage data and high-usage alert system for car washes.

Designed to save car wash operators more than $30,000 in water savings per location annually, FlowStat instantly alerts users if gallons per wash are above normal, enabling operators to swiftly address issues in real time and avoid high water bills at the end of the billing cycle. FlowStat also detects water leaks, and alerts users if and when leaks are present.

water usage dataFlowStat’s proprietary technology is the first mobile application that leverages Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor the volume of municipal or city water utilized per-car-washed on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis. This real-time data empowers operators with invaluable insights, offering substantial cost savings and the ability to resolve leaks and high-water usage issues more urgently.

After extensive testing at 17 distinct car wash facilities across the United States, FlowStat is primed and ready for market launch, making its official debut at the Southwest Car Wash Association’s (SCWA) 2024 Convention & Expo in Fort Worth on February 28-March 1 (booth #327); and again at the International Carwash Association’s (ICA) 2024 The Car Wash Show in Nashville on May 13-15.

The system runs on six key components:

  1. Car Count Data: Data is obtained from the car wash tunnel controller or sensor; and sent to the app via a cellular gateway
  2. Digital Water Meter: Meter is installed in the main city water line, sending the water usage data to the app
  3. FlowStat Housing: Houses the cellular gateway and stores gathered data from tunnel controller and digital water meter
  4. FlowStat Application & Database: Measures the volume of municipal or city water used per car washed, collects data, and transmits to users’ smartphones or computers for real-time monitoring and analysis
  5. Cellular Antenna: Transmits data to FlowStat application
  6. High Usage Alerts: Alerts operators when usage exceeds the maximum allowed usage (set by operators)

“As the owner and operator of 11 different car wash locations since 2011, I know first-hand the many challenges operators face on a daily basis,” said Viran Nana, owner of Q Companies and co-founder of FlowStat. “There is no greater headache or stressor than looking at a $10,000 water bill because of high water usage or leaks, so we’ve spent the last half-decade developing this technology to offer a solution that helps fix this massive problem in our industry.”

“Presently, numerous car wash facilities consistently utilize 40 to 60 gallons per vehicle, often without awareness that simple adjustments could reduce this figure to 20 gallons per vehicle washed,” added Nana. “FlowStat is poised to play a pivotal role in facilitating this improvement.”

“There is no other technology on the market that can help car wash operators save water, catch leaks in their systems early on, save money by avoiding surprisingly high-water bills, and enforce accountability in regard to standards of operation amongst their organizations,” added Nana.

Pricing to implement FlowStat per car wash location costs $8,900, plus $199/mo. maintenance and optimization fee, with no long-term contracts required. The payback for the cost of the system is less than one year. For more information, visit www.FlowStat.com.
