MentorAPM is expanding its partnership with Commonwealth Utilities Corporation (CUC) in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands to include electric utility asset management.
The agreement extends MentorAPM’s enterprise asset management platform, already used across CUC’s water and wastewater operations, to the utility’s electric power generation facilities.
The expanded deployment is intended to give CUC a unified view of critical infrastructure across water, wastewater and power services, supporting maintenance planning, investment decisions and long-term resilience.
Asset management across water, wastewater and power
CUC provides electric, water and wastewater services across the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, including Saipan, Tinian and Rota.
Since 2024, MentorAPM has supported CUC’s water and wastewater operations. The latest agreement extends the platform to five power generation facilities: three on Saipan, one on Tinian and one on Rota.
According to CUC, its electric generation assets include facilities on the three inhabited islands of the Marianas, with power generation capacity across Saipan, Tinian and Rota supporting essential services for local communities.
CUC will also deploy MentorLens, MentorAPM’s AI-powered asset inventory and condition assessment solution, across water, wastewater and electric operations.
Island utilities face rising resilience pressures
Island and coastal utilities face a distinct set of operational pressures, including ageing infrastructure, constrained budgets, limited supply chains and heightened exposure to severe weather.
The release says CUC has faced these challenges directly following Super Typhoon Bavi, which affected the Northern Mariana Islands in 2026. U.S. Coast Guard notices in July 2026 warned that Typhoon 09W Bavi was expected to bring gale-force winds to Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan.
For utilities operating in remote or storm-exposed locations, accurate asset data can help teams prioritise repairs, extend equipment life, plan capital investment and restore essential services more quickly after disruption.
“Some of the world’s most resilient utility organisations operate in places where infrastructure must perform under extraordinary conditions,” said Tacoma Zach, co-founder and CEO of MentorAPM.
“Whether serving island communities in the Pacific, coastal utilities throughout the United States or remote systems around the world, our mission is the same: to give operators the asset intelligence they need to make confident decisions.”
Unified asset intelligence for critical infrastructure
The expanded CNMI deployment reflects a wider shift across the utility sector towards enterprise asset management strategies that connect water, wastewater and electric operations.
For multi-service utilities, a unified platform can support condition-based maintenance, risk-based capital planning and better coordination between operational teams.
MentorAPM says its footprint includes coastal and island utilities in the United States, including Santa Monica and Monterey One Water in California, as well as Indigenous communities in Australia.
The company said the expanded CNMI partnership will help operators make more data-driven decisions to protect critical infrastructure and support reliable service across essential utility systems.
