John Crane has won the Most Innovative Water Management Solution category at the Manufacturing Supplier Innovation Awards UK 2026 for its Type SB2 USP technology.

The award recognises technologies that help industrial operators address sustainability challenges while maintaining safe, reliable and efficient operations.

John Crane, a Smiths Group business, said the Type SB2 USP was recognised for its ability to reduce water consumption in demanding industrial applications while maintaining sealing performance and equipment reliability.

Water savings in industrial applications

According to John Crane, one recent LNG application saw water use reduced from approximately 2,000 gallons per day to just 3-4 gallons per day after deployment of the technology.

The company said the example demonstrates the potential for substantial water savings without compromising operational performance.
