Idrica and Global Omnium are hosting WEX Global for the second time, placing Valencia at the heart of the global water debate.

World leaders will have the opportunity to learn about GoAigua’s digital twin, one of the most advanced solutions of its kind, which has been deployed at the utility, Global Omnium.

Valencia is set to become the international water capital from June 27-29. Over 100 experts in water cycle technology and management from more than 40 countries are expected to convene in the city to discuss the main challenges in smart management, IoT technologies and the digital transformation of the industry.

Idrica and Global Omnium are hosting WEX Global for the second time, in its return as an in-person event after the pandemic. In March 2020, the meeting brought together over 80 speakers.

The theme of the 15th WEX Global is the potential of the circular economy, with experts discussing global challenges in the water and energy sectors, and their links with civil society, with an eye on the future.

Idrica to participate in the round tables

The digital transformation of water and energy, sustainability, innovation, investment, and water security will be the main topics of discussion in these debates. In addition, two pre-event forums have been added this year, focusing on marketing and the circular economy.

Idrica is set to play a major role in the various expert panels. Pilar Conejos, the company’s Digital Twin Manager, is taking part in the debate on digital twins, and the water specialist, Joan Carles Guardiola is speaking in the panel on asset management optimization. Idrica’s CTO, Pablo Alcoriza, will be sharing his experiences in the forum of world leaders on how technology is transforming the future of cities. In addition, Chema Nebot, Idrica’s Business Development Director, is moderating the round table on water security in Latin America and the Caribbean. Finally, Jorge Helmbrecht, the firm’s Business Development Manager, is joining the panel on the importance of reducing non-revenue water.

Pablo Calabuig, the CEO of GoAigua US, will be welcoming the attendees, together with Mark Barker, the CEO of WEX Global. Elisa Valía, the Councilor for the Integrated Water Cycle in Valencia, and Dionisio García, the CEO of Global Omnium, will also be taking part in the opening ceremony. Pablo Calabuig and Dionisio García are also joining as panelists in the first debate on digital transformation and climate change. WEX Global

Valencian technology, a global benchmark in water management

On June 27, participants will have the chance to visit Global Omnium to learn about the world’s most advanced digital twin operating in the water sector today. Based on Idrica’s GoAigua platform, it optimizes daily operations and provides 1.7 million people with consistent-quality drinking water 24 hours a day.

This technology, which has been up and running since 2009, supports operational and management decisions in Valencia’s metropolitan water networks. It constantly integrates data from meters, SCADAs and other systems to virtually replicate the behavior of the network in real time with extraordinary accuracy.

Idrica, member of the WEX Global Awards jury

Valencia’s Oceanográfico aquarium has been chosen as the venue for the prestigious WEX Global Awards, which will be presented at the event’s gala dinner on June 28. These global accolades recognize the most innovative solutions in various fields such as circular water use, decarbonization, digital water management, financing and marketing.

Idrica’s Operations Business Partner, Francisco Javier Salguero, is one of the jury’s panel of experts in the innovation in digital water management category.

Idrica is the main sponsor and Global Omnium is the welcoming utility of one of the world’s leading water management events. In this fifteenth meeting, the Netherlands is participating as a partner through the Water Alliance and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, and the Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade (ICEX) is a global business development partner. The event is framed in a world of continuous change, in which the management of the precious resource that is water is key to addressing major environmental, social and economic challenges.
