Groundup.ai Wins PUB Tender To Bring AI Maintenance To Singapore Water Infrastructure

PUB water infrastructure facility in Singapore linked to Groundup.ai predictive maintenance tender
  • Groundup.ai has won an open PUB tender for a Predictive Maintenance and Reliability System.
  • The contract is valued at approximately S$4 million.
  • The system will monitor critical rotating equipment using sound, vibration and thermal data.
  • The project reflects growing use of AI to improve reliability in water infrastructure.
  • Groundup.ai says the platform can diagnose faults and recommend corrective actions before failures occur.

Singapore-based industrial AI company Groundup.ai has been awarded an approximately S$4 million contract by PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency, to deploy predictive maintenance technology across critical water infrastructure.

The contract will see Groundup.ai implement and maintain a Predictive Maintenance and Reliability System for PUB’s critical assets. According to the company, the tender was awarded following an open competitive process involving 15 respondents.

The project reflects the growing role of artificial intelligence in water infrastructure asset management, particularly as utilities look to reduce unplanned downtime, extend asset life and support operational resilience.

Groundup.ai said its platform will be deployed across critical rotating equipment and will analyse machine health data from sound, vibration and thermal signals. The company said the system is designed to detect hidden faults, diagnose root causes and recommend corrective action before issues reach the plant floor.

“Being awarded an open tender against this kind of field isn’t just a contract – it’s a signal of something bigger,” said Leon Lim, CEO and founder of Groundup.ai.

Lim said critical machines play a direct role in keeping clean water flowing to millions of people, adding that there is “no room for guesswork or unplanned downtime”.

“Cognitive Maintenance represents a shift beyond dashboards that merely raise alarms, towards AI that can reason, diagnose and guide operators on what to do before equipment failure disrupts operations,” he said.

PUB oversees Singapore’s water supply, used water, stormwater management and coastal protection. Its infrastructure responsibilities make reliability and maintenance planning central to national water resilience.

Groundup.ai said the award comes as asset-heavy industries face two converging pressures: ageing infrastructure and the loss of experienced maintenance knowledge as skilled workers retire. The company argues that AI-based maintenance systems can help capture expert reasoning and support operators responsible for complex assets.

The company’s Cognitive Maintenance platform is powered by its Groundup.ai Asset Library and GINA engine. It is positioned as moving beyond conventional predictive maintenance by not only identifying potential failures, but also supporting diagnosis and recommended action.

The award also expands Groundup.ai’s presence in critical infrastructure and utilities. The company said it has secured multi-year contracts across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Europe, with customers spanning manufacturing, maritime, defence and infrastructure sectors.
