Finish Thompson Inc. (FTI) has highlighted its MSDB Series magnetic drive sealless centrifugal pumps, designed to provide reliable performance for high-head, low-flow applications in the water and wastewater treatment sector.

Building on the company’s established DB11/15 platform, the MSDB Series features a flooded suction design and is available in two configurations: the MSDB2, equipped with two impellers, and the MSDB3, featuring three impellers. Each additional stage increases pump head while maintaining lower flow rates, enabling operators to select smaller, more cost-effective pumps without compromising performance.

Engineered for reliability and corrosive environments

The pumps incorporate a high-strength neodymium magnetic drive system with encapsulated inner-drive magnets manufactured from unfilled polypropylene or PVDF. Finish Thompson says the design delivers reliable operation while eliminating the need for conventional shaft seals.

Additional features include an easy-set outer drive for simplified motor installation, IEC motor compatibility for vertical installation, ISO 1940 G2.5 balancing and optional ATEX-certified models for hazardous environments. The series is supplied with a five-year warranty.

The MSDB range is constructed using Ryton® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS), including 40% glass-filled R-4 Ryton components, and offers optional stainless steel clamp rings and bronze bump rings to further improve durability in demanding operating environments.

Designed for water and wastewater treatment applications

According to Finish Thompson, the pumps are well suited to water and wastewater treatment applications requiring high pressure at relatively low flow rates, including spray systems, filtration and chemical dosing.

The MSDB Series delivers heads of up to 300 feet (91.5 metres), flow rates as low as 1 gallon per minute (0.23 m³/h) and maximum working pressures of up to 135 psi (9.3 bar), making the pumps suitable for a range of industrial fluid handling applications.

Supporting nearly 75 years of pump manufacturing

Founded in 1951, Finish Thompson manufactures a broad portfolio of chemical transfer equipment, including drum and barrel pumps, centrifugal pumps and air-operated double diaphragm (AODD) pumps. The company supplies customers across six continents and supports nearly 40 industrial sectors worldwide.
