Envirogen, which designs, manufactures, supplies and services water treatment and purification systems for healthcare and industrial applications, has been appointed to Lot 6 – Reverse Osmosis of the NHS Scotland framework for Decontamination Equipment, Maintenance and Associated Accessories. The national framework is managed by Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland), formerly NHS National Services Scotland (NSS).
The appointment was announced by Public Contracts Scotland on 1 October 2026. It provides an established procurement route for NHS Scotland healthcare facilities requiring reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment systems for Central Decontamination Units (CDUs) and Endoscopy Decontamination Units (EDUs).
Envirogen, which manufactures its systems in Derbyshire, said the appointment strengthens its support for decontamination services across NHS Scotland as it expands its healthcare presence across the northern region.
What Lot 6 of the NHS Scotland framework covers
The framework carries the reference NP14326. According to the public award notice, Lot 6 covers reverse osmosis equipment plus installation, commissioning, maintenance and accessories for new-build and replacement requirements.
The published scope references SHTM 01-01 Parts C and D and SHTM 01-06 Part D, as applicable.
Role of reverse osmosis in decontamination
RO removes dissolved salts and other contaminants from incoming water to produce purified water suitable for critical healthcare decontamination processes. These include endoscope reprocessing and surgical instrument decontamination.
Building on experience in the north
Envirogen said the appointment builds on its healthcare water purification experience across the UK, including a growing presence across the north.
Sam Blakemore, Healthcare Sales Manager – North at Envirogen, said: “This appointment gives hospitals in Scotland a clear procurement route for Envirogen’s reverse osmosis systems. At the same time, hospitals can engage with us directly at the earliest stage of a project. We are already working with hospitals across the northern region, including successful installations in Scotland. The appointment gives us a strong platform to build on that experience.”
Blakemore added: “Early involvement can make a real difference, particularly when hospitals are replacing ageing plant, expanding decontamination capacity or planning around space, resilience and future demand. We can visit sites, understand the existing set-up and help estates and decontamination teams establish the right approach before a specification is fixed.”
EndoTherm systems and lifecycle service
Envirogen’s EndoTherm range provides RO water purification for endoscope reprocessing and surgical instrument decontamination. Configurations are designed for requirements ranging from satellite endoscopy facilities to larger central decontamination units.
The company said EndoTherm draws on more than 15 years of research and development experience in UK healthcare, with hundreds of systems installed across the UK. Envirogen also provides installation, commissioning and PureCare lifecycle service and maintenance.
It works with washer-disinfector OEMs, MEP consultants and healthcare design teams to support the integration of purified water systems into new and existing decontamination facilities.
MediShield filtration and procurement route
Separately from the Lot 6 appointment, Envirogen’s wider healthcare offer includes MediShield point-of-entry (POE) and point-of-use (POU) filtration for estates, facilities and Water Safety Groups.
The company said that in Scotland, MediShield can support risk-based water-safety strategies aligned with SHTM 04-01, alongside the enhanced filtration principles set out in NHS England’s NETB 2024/3 for patients at increased risk from waterborne pathogens.
Hospitals can contact Envirogen directly for early technical and project discussions or to arrange a complimentary consultation. Relevant RO requirements can then be progressed through Lot 6 of the NHS Scotland framework.
