  • Complii has acquired Sweetbriar Limited.
  • Sweetbriar specialises in water hygiene, water treatment and Legionella control.
  • The company is based in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire, and works across England and Wales.
  • The deal strengthens Complii’s water compliance offering.
  • The acquisition forms part of Complii’s wider buy-and-build growth strategy.

Complii has acquired Sweetbriar Limited, a specialist provider of water hygiene, water treatment and Legionella control services.

Sweetbriar, based in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire, has operated since 2004 and provides services across England and Wales. The acquisition strengthens Complii’s water compliance capability as part of its wider building safety and regulatory compliance platform.

Complii said the deal supports its strategy to build an end-to-end compliance partner for building owners and managers, covering water, air, fire, electrical, lifts and escalators.

Water hygiene capability added to Complii

Sweetbriar provides Legionella risk assessments, water hygiene services, water treatment, chlorination and disinfection, water sampling, pumping systems, drainage and closed system water treatment.

The acquisition gives Complii additional technical capacity in water hygiene and Legionella control, areas that are central to building safety and facilities compliance.

The UK Health and Safety Executive says employers and those in control of premises must assess and manage sources of Legionella risk in water systems. That makes competent water hygiene management particularly important for sectors such as healthcare, education, hospitality, social housing, manufacturing and commercial estates.

“Sweetbriar is a business built on genuine technical expertise and a real commitment to doing right by its customers – qualities that make them an excellent fit for Complii,” said Sarah Dixon, CEO of Complii.

“Their team’s depth of experience in water hygiene and legionella control strengthens our water offering considerably, and I’m delighted to welcome Matthew, Seb, and the whole Sweetbriar team to the Group.”

Sweetbriar to continue service-led approach

Complii said Sweetbriar has built a strong reputation for high-quality, service-led water compliance. The business will now operate as part of a larger compliance group while continuing to serve clients across England and Wales.

“Joining Complii gives Sweetbriar access to greater resources and reach, while allowing us to continue delivering the same high standard of service our clients have come to expect,” said Seb Gray, incoming Managing Director of Sweetbriar Limited.

“The shared focus on compliance and quality made Complii a natural partner, and we’re looking forward to being part of something bigger.”

Part of wider buy-and-build strategy

The acquisition follows a series of recent Complii deals, including Celtic Fire Security, Classic Lifts (Scotland) Limited, The Escalator Company, Parr Fire Protection Services, and Tay Fire and Security.

Complii, formerly Compliance Group, says its buy-and-build strategy is designed to create a broader building compliance platform for clients seeking consistent service across multiple risk areas.
