Why is water scarcity such a global concern?
Fresh water is vital for both personal health and for industrial activity. This is a global concern and becoming increasing so due to global warming and population growth.
What impact do you think climate change has on water security?
A huge impact, as it will create more extreme weather events: longer dry periods with water scarcity becoming a bigger issue than it is now. But also an impact on fresh water reserves, because of higher evaporation values, bigger salt water intrusions and water quality impact.
If you could change one thing about the way we use water currently, what would it be?
Create drivers to stimulate water reuse, e.g. by increasing the price for fresh water, stimulating the awareness of our limited resources (similar to fossil fuels).
How does your organisation help mitigate the problem?
We are offering water and waste water treatment solutions which contribute to efficient use of water and stimulate water reuse.
What is your vision for the future of water?
Water may cause wars between countries and regions; we should be aware of that and stimulate initiatives to protect water sources, promote water reuse and create awareness to use water wisely.
