TeamSolve, a startup developing operationally ready, safe and trustable AI solutions for the utilities and industrial sectors, today announced the next chapter of its partnership with Balibago Waterworks—the largest provincial private owned waterworks system in the Philippines. During a comprehensive nine-month trial supported by ImagineH2O Asia, TeamSolve’s generative AI Knowledge TwinTM was applied at two Balibago Waterworks facilities to improve asset performance, operational efficiency and workforce effectiveness.

Improving operations for water systems in the Philippines

Deployed at the company’s Water Supply Network in Capas and its Water Treatment Plant in Arayat, the TeamSolve Knowledge TwinTM consolidated various sources of knowledge to streamline access for employees, enabling safer, more efficient task performance. These included insights and standard operating procedures from domain experts, continuous field observations and findings, troubleshooting guides, safety protocols, reports and workflows.

The Knowledge Twin™ was integrated into a natural language interface on WhatsApp, making it easy for Balibago Waterworks field teams to adopt. Alongside providing a singular access point for pertinent information and insights, the tool allowed teams to perform and log workflows, and capture new knowledge through text, image and audio inputs that helped update the platform. It also generated reports instantly, saving time while ensuring proper documentation. During the trial, the Knowledge Twin™ supported key workflows on leak surveys and repairs, water loss calculations, preventive maintenance, safety protocols and troubleshooting across all main water asset classes.

By implementing TeamSolve’s solution, Balibago Waterworks was able to gain time savings of 50 percent for field teams, ensure work consistency and upskilling, improve scheduling efficiency by about 30–50 percent and decrease time needed for new staff onboarding by 5x. Additionally, the transition from reactive to proactive and predictive maintenance will allow the company to improve asset performance by over 20 percent, while reducing non-revenue water over time with simple, yet effective tools.

Operating across a large, growing footprint of more than 90 franchises, Knowledge TwinTM has unlocked new capabilities in the standardisation and streamlining of Balibago Waterworks’ operations—supporting its vision of providing reliable, sustainable and resilient water services.

“We know that the future is all about AI. At Balibago Waterworks, we want to ensure that we learn how to use this technology to our advantage, in order to provide our customers with better water service and optimise our business through all the benefits AI can deliver. Some people may be afraid of losing their jobs because of AI. However, our goal is not to replace humans with technology, but to use AI to help our employees do their jobs better. We thank TeamSolve for guiding us through this new horizon for our business”, said Ms. Criselle P. Alejandro, President of Balibago Waterworks.

“This partnership marks a significant milestone for TeamSolve, showcasing the transformative power of our game-changing Knowledge Twin™ in delivering swift and impactful results for the water sector. The trust that Balibago Waterworks has placed in us is met with TeamSolve’s unwavering commitment to scaling the Knowledge Twin™ effectively, while serving as a trusted digital partner to help it navigate a rapidly evolving tech landscape—empowering communities and setting new benchmarks for progress in the water industry”, said Mr. Robin Wong, Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of TeamSolve.

Company leadership

Founded in 2022, TeamSolve is led by four co-founders with extensive experience overseeing critical digital projects in the water industry:

  • Mudasser Iqbal, Chief Executive Officer
  • Robin Wong, Chief Commercial Officer
  • Michael Allen, Chief Technology Officer
  • Ami Preis, Chief Operating Officer

Co-founders Mudasser, Michael and Ami are repeat entrepreneurs from the water industry, having previously co-founded Visenti, a Singapore-based smart water analytics startup spun out of the SMART research programme at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Visenti was later acquired by American water technology provider Xylem in 2016. Meanwhile, Robin is a seasoned executive turned entrepreneur that previously led major key accounts and strategic growth areas with Xylem globally, overseeing the rollout of new technologies and entry into new market segments.

In 2024, TeamSolve raised US$2.5m through a seed funding round anchored by Singapore Government-backed Deep Tech investor and ecosystem builder SGInnovate, together with Burnt Island Ventures, a US-based early-stage venture fund for water entrepreneurs. The company also participated in the ImagineH2O Asia Accelerator programme, which played a crucial role in facilitating TeamSolve’s collaboration with Balibago Waterworks and helped co-fund the pilot project.

Designed for operations, TeamSolve’s Knowledge Twin™ is a patented, next-generation AI-powered digital knowledge companion™ tailored for utilities, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities across various sectors. It seamlessly integrates human expertise with data to generate advanced, on-demand insights, enabling better planning of future operations, enhancing alarms or crisis response, and monitoring system-wide asset health. Acting as a dynamic knowledge base, it consolidates historical asset and incident data, expert wisdom, troubleshooting manuals, operating procedures, and field findings. With its user-friendly, natural language interface, the Knowledge Twin™ empowers field teams by delivering precise information when and where it is needed, revolutionising operational efficiency and decision-making.

Expanding TeamSolve’s footprint in ASEAN and beyond

Over the next three years, TeamSolve will partner with Balibago Waterworks to roll out the Knowledge TwinTM across the latter’s entire portfolio of over 90 franchises outside Manila, which serve approximately two million people. The companies will also collaborate on driving digital transformation, and on strengthening TeamSolve’s presence in the Philippines. Simultaneously, TeamSolve will expand its presence in Singapore—where it is headquartered—while conducting trials in Fiji, Malaysia, Africa, Australia and North America.
