Aetherion has launched as a new US water treatment company focused on serving mid-sized commercial and industrial facilities.

The business has been established in partnership with private investment firm Iron Path Capital and will be led by water industry executive LaMarr Barnes as CEO.

Aetherion targets regional water treatment companies

Aetherion plans to invest in and acquire independently owned water treatment companies across the US, creating a wider platform serving commercial and light industrial customers.

The company said its model is intended to provide regional businesses with additional capital and operational support while retaining their existing customer relationships and local presence.

Aetherion will target water treatment requirements at facilities including hospitals, universities, data centres and light manufacturing plants.

Its services will include water treatment chemicals, water safety consulting, treatment equipment and preventative maintenance.

The company will also provide water and utility system commissioning, cleaning and maintenance services.

“Our mission is to serve the water treatment needs of mid-sized facilities by consistently showing up, being good stewards of their resources and getting the job done,” said LaMarr Barnes, CEO of Aetherion.

“Aetherion gives customers the responsiveness, technical depth and full range of services they deserve – delivered by the local and regional companies they already trust, now with more horsepower behind them.”

LaMarr Barnes appointed CEO

Barnes brings more than a decade of water industry leadership experience to the new company.

His previous positions include serving as CEO of U.S. Water Services and Kurita America.

At Aetherion, Barnes will oversee the development of the company’s water treatment operations and its partnerships with independent providers.

Iron Path Capital backs expansion strategy

Iron Path Capital is a US private equity firm focused on lower middle-market businesses operating in sectors including specialty chemicals and materials, engineered products and technical services.

The investment firm has offices in Nashville, Tennessee, and Charlottesville, Virginia.

Its involvement in Aetherion will provide capital and operational resources as the water treatment business pursues partnerships and acquisitions.

“We seek partnership with exceptional operators who are solving real problems and are interested in accelerated growth,” said Lexa Heinz, Principal at Iron Path Capital.

“LaMarr’s operating experience growing and developing water treatment companies, paired with our capital and partnership approach, provides Aetherion with a strong foundation to build a sustainable water treatment platform.”

Focus on commercial and light industrial water treatment

Aetherion is positioning its services between large-scale industrial water treatment providers and smaller regional operators, with a particular focus on facilities with complex water requirements.

The company’s offering will cover treatment chemicals and equipment alongside ongoing technical, maintenance and water safety services.

Aetherion said its acquisition strategy will focus on independent, owner-led water treatment businesses operating in regional US markets.
