Bentley Systems has announced the opening of submissions for its 2026 Year in Infrastructure (YII) Awards, recognising digital innovation in infrastructure engineering projects worldwide.
The awards programme highlights how digital technologies are being used to design, build and operate infrastructure more efficiently and sustainably across sectors including water, wastewater, transport and energy.
Submissions are open until 3 May 2026, with projects of any size or stage eligible to enter, provided they utilise Bentley software.
The programme builds on more than two decades of recognition for digital engineering innovation, with over 5,500 infrastructure projects having participated globally.
Past award-winning projects include major infrastructure developments such as the Thames Tideway Tunnel in the UK and large-scale water recycling facilities in the United States.
Digital infrastructure innovation across water and wastewater sectors
Digital infrastructure innovation is increasingly shaping how water and wastewater systems are designed and managed, with tools such as digital twins, data-driven modelling and artificial intelligence enabling improved decision-making across asset lifecycles.
The YII Awards include dedicated categories for water and wastewater projects, recognising advances in areas such as network modelling, treatment optimisation and asset performance management.
Entries are evaluated by independent panels of industry experts based on measurable outcomes, including improvements in efficiency, cost performance, resilience and sustainability.
Finalists will be announced in August 2026 and invited to present their projects at the Year in Infrastructure event in Singapore on 6–7 October, where category winners will be revealed.
