Wilo Ireland has appointed Paul Mannion as technical solutions manager as the company expands its support for water treatment and infrastructure projects across the country.
With more than three decades of experience in Ireland’s water management sector, Mannion has worked extensively in pumping station design, installation, onsite system assessment and energy auditing. His career also spans the restructuring of Ireland’s public water services, giving him broad experience across municipal infrastructure and utility operations.
In his new role at Wilo Ireland, Mannion will work closely with contractors and project teams to deliver technical guidance and support for water treatment and management solutions.
He said he is looking forward to collaborating with partners across the sector.
“I am delighted to be joining the Wilo team and am very excited about the future as we expand our water management services,” Mannion said.
“My experience across the sector has given me a clear understanding of what is needed at every stage of the supply chain to achieve the best results. I look forward to collaborating with contractors to deliver our shared ambition of advancing water management services.”
Addressing Ireland’s water infrastructure challenges
Ireland’s water infrastructure faces increasing pressure as ageing systems struggle to meet rising demand and evolving environmental requirements. Expanding technical expertise within the sector is seen as an important step in supporting utilities and contractors delivering new infrastructure and upgrades.
As part of his role, Mannion will oversee the deployment of Wilo Ireland’s range of water management technologies designed to improve operational efficiency and treatment performance.
These solutions include fine filter screen systems designed to remove debris such as grit and fibres from wastewater flows, helping improve treatment efficiency while reducing operational maintenance requirements.
The company’s aeration systems support biological wastewater treatment processes by delivering controlled oxygen levels within activated sludge tanks. Additional equipment such as vertical mixers help maintain stable basin circulation, while submersible motors are used to power pumps and circulation equipment designed for demanding wastewater treatment environments.
Richard Swinburne, managing director of Wilo Ireland, said the appointment strengthens the company’s ability to support customers across the sector.
“I am thrilled to welcome Paul to Wilo Ireland. His depth of knowledge and experience makes him an excellent fit for our organisation and our long-term objectives,” Swinburne said.
“With the challenges posed by climate change and outdated infrastructure, effective water treatment and management must be a priority. At Wilo Ireland, we are committed to enhancing water services through environmentally conscious and efficiency-focused solutions.”
The expansion of Wilo’s water management services also supports the company’s broader sustainability objectives, including its commitment to significantly reducing direct and energy-related greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.
