Wilo Ireland has appointed Richard Swinburne as its new Managing Director as the company targets further growth in data centres, water management and energy-efficient pump solutions for residential and commercial HVAC systems.
With more than 20 years of experience across the utilities, HVAC and industrial sectors, Swinburne brings extensive knowledge of pump technologies and water-delivery applications. He previously served as Managing Director of Xylem Water Solutions Ireland.
In his new role, Swinburne aims to expand Wilo Ireland’s operations by drawing on the wider Wilo Group platform, with a strong focus on sustainability. He highlighted Wilo’s achievements in environmental performance—including multiple EcoVadis platinum ratings and climate-neutral manufacturing facilities—as a key reason for joining the organisation.
“I am delighted to be joining Wilo Ireland at such a great point in its journey,” said Swinburne. “The strides that Wilo has been making with regards to sustainability is what initially drew me to the position. In my new role, I plan to continue the award-winning work of Wilo Group, transferring that global knowledge here in Ireland so that our buildings and water management infrastructure become ever-greener.”
Supporting Energy and Water Efficiency in Ireland
Swinburne’s appointment comes at a time when Ireland faces increasing pressures on its water and energy systems, including concerns about rising electricity demand. One of his immediate priorities is helping utilities and commercial operators improve efficiency, supported by Wilo’s energy audit services, which identify outdated pump assets and recommend modern, more efficient alternatives.
He also intends to strengthen Ireland’s water management capabilities, building on recent developments in the UK where Wilo launched an end-to-end water treatment package to support infrastructure upgrades.
Lee Tebbatt, Managing Director of Wilo UK, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Richard to the Wilo family. Through his previous experience and success in the industry, he will be invaluable to the development of Wilo Ireland. With his commitment to sustainability, water security and energy utilisation, he embodies Wilo’s mission. I look forward to seeing the growth of Wilo in Ireland.”
