Vesconite Bearings has confirmed that its long-established Standard Vesconite bearing material is completely free of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) — and has been since its development in 1969.
This includes the absence of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), a commonly used fluoropolymer increasingly targeted under international environmental regulations for its persistence in the environment. With tightening restrictions on PFAS across the European Union, the United States and other jurisdictions, Vesconite Bearings offers manufacturers, plant operators and OEMs a proven, compliant alternative that does not compromise on performance.
Dr Jean-Patrick Leger, CEO of Vesconite Bearings, said:
“Standard Vesconite was engineered from the beginning to be a dry-running, self-lubricating material. More than 50 years on, its PFAS-free formulation is gaining new relevance as industrial users seek to move away from fluorinated substances without sacrificing durability or efficiency.”
PFAS-free and proven in performance
Standard Vesconite’s dry-running performance is achieved through internal lubrication that eliminates the need for external greasing. This design reduces maintenance requirements and delivers smooth operation with a long service life — all without relying on environmentally contentious additives.
The material’s dimensional stability, low coefficient of friction and chemical resistance make it suitable for demanding applications in sectors including agriculture, water treatment, mining, marine, food processing and construction.
Dr Leger added:
“Standard Vesconite gives users peace of mind that their operations will not be affected by future PFAS restrictions. It’s a time-tested material that helps companies meet compliance requirements while improving reliability and operational efficiency.”
As industries worldwide shift towards PFAS-free materials, Standard Vesconite offers a sustainable, compliant and high-performance option for bearings and wear parts.
