InSite Engineering, LLC (“InSite” or the “Company”), a leading water and wastewater engineering and design services firm specializing in wastewater systems, environmental remediation, municipal and transportation projects, and civil engineering, today announced that it has received a strategic investment from Godspeed Capital Management LP (“Godspeed Capital”), a lower middle-market Architecture, Engineering, Consulting, and Government services, solutions, and technology-focused private equity firm. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Through this investment, Godspeed Capital will partner with InSite’s leadership team to establish the Company as the platform brand of a new water and wastewater engineering services provider focused on critical infrastructure projects in the Southeastern United States. As Godspeed’s newest platform brand, InSite will continue to leverage its nearly two decades of expertise to serve its municipal, state and local government, utility, and commercial clients with a comprehensive suite of engineering and design services addressing complex infrastructure challenges.
Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Hoover, Alabama, InSite has established itself as a leading infrastructure engineering firm serving municipalities and government clients throughout the Southeastern United States. Over its history, InSite has built a strong reputation as a trusted, well-respected partner with deep subject matter expertise, a proven set of high-end capabilities, and a talented team of over 40 highly skilled professionals.
The infrastructure sector is experiencing heightened demand for upgrades and expansions driven by aging assets, population growth in the Southeastern U.S., and evolving environmental regulations – including those related to PFAS remediation – all of which are supported by significant federal, state, and local funding initiatives. InSite maintains a robust pipeline of contracted projects, with a strong history of delivering critical water and wastewater treatment facilities, municipal infrastructure improvements, and civil engineering projects. InSite consistently wins new business, alongside recurring streams of revenue from repeat customers across Alabama and Georgia, with additional near-term opportunities in Florida, South Carolina, and Mississippi.
Godspeed Capital will leverage its extensive experience in the engineering, consulting, and government services sectors and significant platform development capabilities to drive InSite’s continued growth. InSite marks Godspeed Capital’s 36th investment since the firm’s inception in 2021. Through its proven buy-and-build strategy, Godspeed Capital has to date established nine platform businesses focused on engineering, consulting, and government services, each with unique areas of focus operating at the intersection of the public and private sectors.
InSite’s Civil Engineering Division Manager, John Jett, will assume the role of President of the new platform. He will be supported by longtime InSite executive, Shannon King, who will serve as Vice President of Corporate Growth & Development, alongside InSite’s seasoned management team, which includes Matt Golab, Vice President of Operations, Tim Rylee, Vice President of the Birmingham Division, and Jonathan Bonner, Vice President of the Tuscaloosa Division. Together, the InSite team will work with Godspeed Capital to expand the platform’s geographic reach, enhance business development, broaden services offerings, and capitalize on the significant market opportunities in the region.
“We are pleased to be partnering with the Godspeed team to further grow our operations in a vital market,” said Mr. Jett. “Godspeed Capital’s proven track record building full-service engineering and consulting platforms provides us with numerous opportunities to further develop our management team and expand our existing suite of capabilities as we look to enter new markets and more fully address our clients’ needs.”
“For 20 years, InSite has served as a regional leader in the water and wastewater infrastructure space thanks to its experienced executive management team and impressive track record within a growing infrastructure sector,” added Douglas T. Lake, Jr., Founder & Managing Partner of Godspeed Capital. “InSite is the first investment for Godspeed Capital Fund III, and we look forward to partnering with John and his team to further cement InSite as a leading infrastructure engineering platform in a blossoming region through operational capacity increases and the pursuit of strategic acquisitions.”
“InSite is poised to enter an impressive phase of growth with the help of the Godspeed team, who have demonstrated great enthusiasm and appreciation for InSite’s differentiated capabilities and expertise,” said Shannon King, InSite’s Vice President of Corporate Growth & Development. “InSite’s management team has found an aligned partner in Godspeed willing to make the investments needed to guide InSite and help the company achieve its full potential.”
“Today’s investment marks a critical step for Godspeed Capital in developing a water and wastewater and civil engineering platform focused on the South and Southeast,” said J. Cameron Terry II, Principal at Godspeed Capital. “We believe InSite, with its capable management team, strong relationships across Alabama & Georgia, and robust suite of engineering capabilities, is well primed for both organic and inorganic growth initiatives, as well as geographic diversification, that will help to further develop InSite into the market leader in the water and wastewater engineering services.”
