Shively brings 33 years of water sector experience

Shively has more than 33 years of experience in the water sector and has held a range of leadership positions within Stantec.

Her previous responsibilities have covered project management, business development, growth and operations, alongside the leadership of multidisciplinary teams delivering complex water infrastructure projects.

As business unit leader for Water, Shively will direct a North American operation with a net revenue target of C$970 million.

The practice provides planning, engineering, design and advisory services to utilities, communities and industrial organisations.

“Water is at the heart of every community. Whether securing a new supply, creating energy from waste streams, or advancing leading practices in water reuse, we help communities steward one of their most essential resources,” said Shively.

“Stantec has an incredible depth of technical expertise and collaborative approach. I’m looking forward to working with our people and clients to deliver reliable water solutions that shape resilient, sustainable communities.”

Water practice addresses infrastructure and resilience

Stantec’s North American Water business works across drinking water supply and treatment as well as wastewater infrastructure and treatment.

Its work also includes water reuse, stormwater management, flood resilience and wider water resource challenges.

The appointment comes as utilities and communities across North America face pressures associated with ageing infrastructure, population growth, climate change and changing requirements for water management.

Stantec also appoints new Buildings leader

Stantec has also appointed Jon Sylvie to lead its North American Buildings business.

The practice comprises more than 5,500 employees working across sectors including advanced manufacturing, airports, education, healthcare, industrial facilities and science and technology.

Sylvie is a 21-year Army veteran with more than 14 years of experience in architecture and engineering practice.

His previous experience includes business development, project delivery, client relationships and team development.

“We have an opportunity to bring Stantec’s wide-ranging expertise together to create beautifully designed places that perform well today and are ready for what’s ahead,” said Sylvie.

Leadership changes support North American operations

The two appointments form part of leadership changes across Stantec’s North American operations.

Stantec said the changes come as its clients address challenges including climate change, ageing infrastructure, population growth and technological development.
