Garfield will remain with the business until the close of the financial year ending 31 March 2026 to support a detailed handover and ensure continuity during the transition.
The appointment comes as Severn Trent continues to deliver its largest investment programme to date, supporting improvements across water and wastewater networks during the current regulatory period.
Jesic, a chartered engineer, joined Severn Trent as a graduate in 2003 and has since held operational and leadership roles across the organisation. He was appointed to the Executive Committee in 2018 and became Capital and Commercial Services Director in 2023, responsible for Severn Trent’s multi-billion-pound capital design and delivery programme. He also serves as Managing Director of Hafren Dyfrdwy, Severn Trent’s regulated entity in Wales.
Christine Hodgson, Chair of Severn Trent Plc, said:
“After a thorough process, we are delighted to appoint James Jesic, a home-grown leader who has played a significant role in Severn Trent’s success to date. His operational expertise, performance focus and commitment to our people and region make him the ideal person to lead Severn Trent into the next phase.”
Liv Garfield steps down after leading the business through the start of its £15 billion investment period. During her tenure, Severn Trent was awarded Ofwat’s highest ‘Outstanding’ rating for its price review plan and secured the Environment Agency’s top four-star environmental performance rating for six consecutive years.
Garfield commented:
“It has been a privilege to be CEO for the last 11 years. I am proud of what we have achieved together, and I couldn’t be happier that James will now lead the business through its next period of growth.”
Jesic said he was honoured to take on the role:
“The pride I feel for Severn Trent and for the Midlands is huge. I’ve grown my career
