RSK Group has launched Penta Environmental, which brings together five of its specialist businesses to give clients across the UK greater access to environmental response, remediation and water treatment services. The new organisation launched on Monday 2 November 2026.
Five RSK businesses in one organisation
Penta Environmental combines Ecologia Environmental Solutions, RemedX, RSK Raw, RSK Response and RSK IWS, all of which were already part of RSK Group. The name comes from the Greek word for five and refers to the five businesses forming the new organisation.
The company said that combining their expertise will give the businesses broader capabilities and better collaboration. It said the change will also increase their capacity to support clients and to pursue larger projects.
Remediation and water treatment services
The integrated organisation will provide contaminated land consultancy, site and ground investigation, geoenvironmental and geotechnical support, and soil and groundwater remediation. It will also offer construction-site water treatment, silt management and specialist support for environmental claims.
Its contracting capability will cover material management, in situ and ex situ treatment, groundwater and water treatment systems, remediation design and principal contractor services.
Penta Environmental Managing Director Dr Giacomo Maini said: “Each of these businesses is already part of RSK Group and each brings recognised specialist expertise. Our teams have already seen the benefits of working more closely together, including stronger response capability and better knowledge sharing.
“By bringing them together as Penta Environmental, we can make it easier for clients to access the right mix of skills and services, while creating greater capacity to support more complex projects. Clients will continue to work with the people and teams they know, with the added benefit of a broader organisation supporting them. This is about strengthening the service we provide, improving collaboration across our teams and giving clients more joined-up support across environmental response, remediation, water treatment and related services.”
Spill response and waste services
According to Dr Maini, Penta Environmental will offer 24/7 response to domestic and commercial spills and other pollution incidents. This will cover investigation, containment, clean-up, remediation and reinstatement.
Its teams will also handle hazardous waste collection, treatment and disposal, fly-tipped waste removal and flood response. Other services will include compliance monitoring, environmental risk reduction and on-site treatment of solid and liquid wastes.
Dr Maini said the sustainable waste business will provide consultancy, equipment supply, installation, project management and maintenance for underground and above-ground collection systems. He said: “Sensor-enabled equipment and cloud-based data can help clients monitor waste volumes, improve collection efficiency, support recycling and source-reduction strategies, and reduce the environmental impact of operations. In addition, we are planning to extend the operational efficiency associated with these technologies supported by AI across all our service lines via an ambitious digital transformation programme.”
Current and recent projects
The company listed the following among Penta Environmental’s current and recent work:
- a major site investigation for a port infrastructure project in the South East, delivered with several RSK Group companies, involving cable percussion and rotary boreholes, cone penetration testing and ordnance clearance
- the surrender of an environmental permit for a former chemical site, following extensive site investigation, several stages of in situ remediation and long-term monitoring
- in situ remediation at several sites in the Midlands and North East, using dual-phase and multiphase extraction to remove volatile contaminants and non-aqueous phase liquids, with surfactant injection at some sites to improve removal
- environmental incident response for clients in the UK electricity transmission, distribution and renewable energy sectors
Continuity for existing clients
Dr Maini said that clients will keep their existing contacts, and that ongoing projects and commitments will continue throughout the transition. The company said the change is intended to strengthen delivery without disrupting established client relationships or project continuity.
Penta Environmental will work across the UK with clients in infrastructure, development, construction, utilities, industrial operations and environmental response. It will offer a single point of access to specialist teams, covering work from investigation and remediation through to incident response, water treatment and long-term environmental management.
RSK Group said the new structure will also give staff clearer career paths through closer collaboration, knowledge sharing and access to a wider range of project work.
