In a significant advancement for water treatment solutions and sustainability, Nanostone Water, in collaboration with Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) is proud to announce the commissioning of the Laguna Lake Modular Treatment Plant (LL ModTP), located in Muntinlupa City. This ground-breaking project, set to officially commence operations in March 2024, marks a milestone in addressing the critical water needs of the Philippines, particularly in the southern portion of Maynilad’s concession that is served with water sourced from Laguna Lake.
The variable quality of Laguna Lake’s water, marked by algal blooms and fluctuations in organic and inorganic matter, has tested the limits of Maynilad’s existing treatment facilities. The LL ModTP, using the Nanostone’s proprietary pressurized ceramic ultrafiltration modules for one of its treatment processes, effectively addresses these complexities without resorting to extra processing steps, delivering the desired water quality while occupying approximately 50% less space than traditional plants of equivalent output.

The LL ModTP represents a first step, designed to treat 20 million liters per day (MLD) of raw water from Laguna Lake, ensuring the water supply for over 50,000 customers in the surrounding areas. By leveraging Nanostone’s pressurized ceramic ultrafiltration membranes, the plant occupies a mere 750 square meters, effectively eliminating space-consuming treatment steps required by conventional treatment plants. The plant represents a considerable reduction in environmental impact due to its compact design and long lifespan of ceramic ultrafiltration membranes.
