Mott MacDonald has strengthened its UK water business with four senior technical delivery director appointments, aimed at supporting utilities as they enter the AMP8 investment period.
The engineering and management consultancy has created the new technical delivery director roles to enhance project governance, delivery efficiency and programme outcomes across complex water infrastructure portfolios.
The appointments bring senior industry experience from across the UK water sector. Richard Walton joins from United Utilities, where he was head of project engineering. Galo Pinto was previously responsible for operational water engineering at AECOM, while Nick Lowe joins from Wessex Water, where he led technical and non-infrastructure design. Duncan Gracie was most recently water strategy and growth director at AECOM.
Supporting AMP8 delivery across the UK water sector
All four appointments join Mott MacDonald’s UK water business at a time when the sector is entering a major investment cycle under AMP8. Water companies are accelerating programmes focused on resilience, water quality, customer service and environmental performance, while managing tighter regulatory requirements and delivery schedules.
The expanded technical delivery leadership team is intended to support clients in meeting regulatory milestones, managing delivery risk and coordinating complex, multidisciplinary programmes across AMP8 and beyond.
Strengthening governance and programme outcomes
Tim Hill, general manager of Mott MacDonald’s UK water and environment business, said the appointments reflect the scale of delivery challenges facing the sector.
“Our clients face unprecedented delivery demands under AMP8,” Hill said. “This investment in technical delivery directors reinforces our commitment to bringing senior expertise to the front line of programme delivery, helping ensure schedules are maintained, risks are managed and benefits are realised.”
Hill added that the four new directors bring extensive experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams across water infrastructure programmes.
“Richard, Galo, Nick and Duncan each bring a strong track record in the water sector. Their focus is to support clients in delivering outcomes efficiently and with confidence during AMP8,” he said.
The appointments form part of Mott MacDonald’s wider preparations to support UK water companies through the upcoming regulatory period.
