Kemira has completed the acquisition of AquaBlue, Inc., a US-based provider of industrial water and wastewater treatment services, strengthening the company’s presence in North America and accelerating its growth in service-led water treatment solutions.
The acquisition supports Kemira’s strategic focus on industrial water treatment services, a segment growing faster than traditional water treatment markets, as manufacturers seek improved operational efficiency, compliance support and water reuse solutions.
Expanding industrial wastewater services capability
AquaBlue is a privately owned company headquartered in Ohio, USA, providing wastewater and industrial water treatment services to customers across the food and beverage, manufacturing and healthcare sectors. The company is expected to generate approximately USD 9 million in revenue in 2025 and employs eight people.
By combining AquaBlue’s service expertise with Kemira’s existing technology and chemical portfolio, the acquisition is intended to enhance Kemira’s ability to deliver integrated, end-to-end water treatment solutions for industrial customers.
“This acquisition enhances our ability to deliver more value to customers by combining AquaBlue’s service expertise with Kemira’s technologies,” said Tuija Pohjolainen-Hiltunen, EVP, Water Solutions at Kemira. “It’s the first acquisition since we purchased Water Engineering, Inc., which has provided us with a solid platform for organic and inorganic growth in industrial water treatment services in North America.”
Integration into Kemira’s Water Solutions business
AquaBlue will be integrated into Kemira’s Water Solutions business unit and will continue operating from its current location. The transaction, valued at under USD 10 million, reflects Kemira’s ongoing investment in expanding its service-based offering alongside its core chemical solutions.
Kemira is a global supplier of sustainable chemical solutions for water-intensive industries, with operations across Europe, North America and Asia. The acquisition aligns with broader industry trends towards outsourced water management, performance-based services and lifecycle optimisation of industrial water systems.
