Grundfos Danish delegation Australia water security efforts were highlighted during the official Danish State Visit, as the company strengthened partnerships and showcased solutions supporting both urban sustainability and rural resilience.
Grundfos, a global leader in water and pumping solutions, participated in the Green Buildings track as part of the Danish business delegation visiting Australia. The visit, led by Their Majesties The King and Queen of Denmark, provided a platform to deepen collaboration between Australia and Denmark on sustainability, energy transition, and water management.
Marking 46 years of operations in Australia, Grundfos used the visit to reinforce its long-standing role in supporting the country’s water, agriculture and infrastructure sectors while announcing a new partnership with Rural Aid.
Advancing green buildings through Grundfos Danish delegation Australia water security initiatives
The Grundfos Danish delegation Australia water security agenda placed strong emphasis on the role of buildings in reducing emissions. With Australia targeting a 43% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and 82% renewable electricity by 2030, improving energy efficiency in building systems is a key priority.
Pumping and water systems account for a significant share of building energy consumption, yet remain an often overlooked opportunity for optimisation. Grundfos highlighted how integrating advanced pumping technologies with smart, connected systems can unlock substantial energy and water savings.
Speaking during the ‘Sustainable and Efficient Buildings Stock of Tomorrow’ panel, Greig Graham, Area Sales Director Oceania CBS, pointed to the untapped potential across Australia’s building sector. He noted that linking systems across buildings and infrastructure can help create more resilient and future-ready urban environments.
Partnership with Rural Aid strengthens drought resilience
A key outcome of the visit was the announcement of a new partnership between Grundfos and Rural Aid, one of Australia’s leading charities supporting farming communities.
Backed by the Grundfos Foundation, the initiative will fund critical water infrastructure such as tanks and pump replacements in drought-affected regions. The agreement was formalised during the visit, bringing together industry and community stakeholders to address water security challenges in rural Australia.
This partnership extends the impact of the delegation beyond urban sustainability, focusing on practical solutions for communities where water access is essential to livelihoods.
Building a more inclusive water sector workforce
Grundfos also used the platform to highlight its Women in Water Connect initiative, developed in Australia to support greater representation of women across the sector. The programme aims to strengthen the future workforce by creating opportunities for connection, visibility and professional development.
The initiative was presented during the Royal Business Walk, demonstrating how diversity and inclusion can contribute to innovation and long-term resilience within the water industry.
Rick Holland, Country Director Grundfos Australia and Vice President APAC and China, said: “Grundfos has been a proud partner to Australia’s water, agriculture and infrastructure sectors for more than four decades, and we are honoured to showcase the strength of Australian-Danish collaboration during this historic State Visit.
“Our participation underscores our commitment to delivering world leading water and energy efficiency solutions that are vital to Australia’s green transition, while also strengthening water security for drought affected communities.”
The visit reflects a broader commitment to addressing both climate and water challenges through collaboration, innovation and targeted investment across urban and regional environments.
