Carollo Engineers has named Anne Prudhel as its next president and CEO, with the appointment taking effect on 1 January 2027.

Prudhel will succeed B. Narayanan, who has served as president and CEO for 15 years. Narayanan will continue to support the water engineering and consulting firm in an advisory capacity until his retirement at the end of 2027.

Prudhel brings 24 years of water infrastructure experience

Based in Walnut Creek, California, Prudhel has 24 years of experience working on water infrastructure projects covering water supply, wastewater collection, recycled water and regional conveyance systems.

She has also worked with utilities and public agencies on capital improvement programmes and long-term infrastructure planning, including helping organisations secure low-interest funding for major projects.

Prudhel joined Carollo in 2004 and has since held a number of senior positions within the company.

Her previous roles include Chief of Infrastructure Design and Client Services Director. She also serves on Carollo’s strategic growth advisory board and board of directors.

“This transition reflects a deliberate and thoughtful succession process,” said Narayanan.

“Anne is an exceptional leader who combines strong technical skills with a deep understanding of Carollo’s culture, values, and clients. With the board’s support, she is well-positioned to lead Carollo into its next chapter.”

Narayanan prepares to step down after 15 years as CEO

Narayanan has spent 36 years with Carollo and has led the company as president and CEO for the past 15 years.

During his tenure, the firm has grown from more than 500 employees to nearly 2,000.

Before becoming CEO, Narayanan served as Carollo’s Director of Wastewater Process Technology, overseeing process design and operational start-up work across wastewater projects.

He has also authored a number of peer-reviewed papers covering advanced water treatment practices and operational strategies.

Narayanan will remain involved with Carollo during the leadership transition, supporting Prudhel and the wider leadership team in an advisory role through the end of 2027.

Prudhel sets out priorities ahead of 2027 transition

Prudhel said her priorities as president and CEO will include investment in Carollo’s workforce, supporting its engineering teams and maintaining relationships with water-sector clients.

“I am humbled by the company’s confidence and honored to serve as Carollo’s next president and CEO,” said Prudhel.

“I feel fortunate to have built my career at a firm that has given me opportunities to grow as both a professional and a leader.”

She also highlighted Narayanan’s role in developing the company and said she intends to build on that foundation as Carollo responds to changing infrastructure requirements across the water sector.

“As I look ahead, I’m committed to building on that foundation by investing in our people, working with our teams to continue delivering the trusted expertise and innovative solutions our clients rely on, and preserving the culture that has made Carollo such a special place to build a career.”
