Atlas Copco energy efficient water solutions will be showcased at the Water Equipment Show 2026, with a focus on reducing energy consumption and supporting carbon reduction across the UK water sector.

Atlas Copco will demonstrate how its air and blower technologies can deliver measurable efficiency improvements in water and wastewater treatment, as utilities face increasing regulatory pressure under AMP8 and Ofwat’s 2025–2030 framework.

Atlas Copco energy efficient water solutions target high energy processes

Atlas Copco energy efficient water solutions are designed to address one of the sector’s biggest challenges: energy-intensive aeration and compressed air systems.

By combining high-efficiency equipment with real-time data and system optimisation, the company aims to help operators better understand where energy is being used and how it can be reduced.

“Water companies are entering a new phase where energy performance and carbon reduction are being measured more closely than ever,” said Kirk Lyons, Sales Manager at Atlas Copco. “Our focus is on helping operators identify practical ways to reduce energy use while maintaining reliable performance.”

Advanced blower technology improves system efficiency

At the event, Atlas Copco will present its latest high-speed turbo and screw blower technologies. The ZB high-speed turbo range has been expanded with new impeller configurations, enabling more precise system sizing and improved efficiency across varying operational conditions.

The ZS6 and ZS6 VSD screw blowers offer high flow rates and flexibility for demanding treatment processes, while the updated ZS4 and ZS4 VSD models deliver additional gains in energy efficiency and reduced noise levels.

Digital tools support smarter operations

Atlas Copco will also highlight the role of digitalisation in improving energy performance. Its iiTrak data logging service captures real-time operational data, providing detailed insights into energy consumption and identifying opportunities for optimisation.

In addition, the Optimizer 4.0 system enables coordinated control of multiple machines across an installation, with integration options for SCADA systems to support data-driven decision-making.

Ensuring continuity with rental solutions

The company will also demonstrate how its rental division supports water and wastewater operators with temporary equipment solutions. Oil-free compressors, blowers and generators can be deployed rapidly to maintain operations during planned maintenance or emergency situations.

These systems are critical for applications such as aeration, instrument air and sludge digestion, where uninterrupted performance is essential.

Supporting the transition to lower-carbon water infrastructure

As the UK water sector works towards stricter environmental targets, Atlas Copco’s approach focuses on combining efficient equipment, digital insight and system-level optimisation to reduce energy consumption and emissions.

The Water Equipment Show provides an opportunity for utilities, contractors and industry stakeholders to explore these technologies and their role in supporting more sustainable water and wastewater operations.
