ABB has been selected by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Water Authority of Jordan to provide digital and AI-driven solutions aimed at improving energy efficiency and water management across Jordan’s water sector. The project will deploy the ABB Genix™ Industrial IoT and AI Suite to enable utilities to track, analyse and reduce energy use across pumping stations, treatment facilities and distribution networks.

Jordan is among the most water-scarce countries in the world, with pressures from population growth, agricultural demand and climate change. With only 61 m³ per capita per year of renewable water resources, the country ranks as the 15th most water-scarce globally.

Under the agreement, ABB will work alongside local partner Volt Automation LLC, providing implementation support and training to ensure effective deployment of the Genix platform. The solution integrates real-time operational data from multiple assets, enabling utilities to improve system visibility, identify inefficiencies and support more sustainable operations.

Within the water sector, Genix will be used to monitor energy consumption across pumping assets, treatment processes and distribution networks. By analysing integrated datasets, the system is designed to support data-informed decisions on resource use, service reliability and operational improvements.

Wissam Assaf, Head of Global Partner Business at ABB’s Energy Industries and Process Industries divisions, said:
“We believe that digital technology is key to making better-informed decisions, sooner. By leveraging digital innovation and energy-efficient solutions, we can help Jordan build a more sustainable and resilient water sector.”

Sinan Hiasat, General Manager at Volt Automation, said:
“We are proud to work closely with ABB on this scope of work, demonstrating how digital innovation and partnership can drive both economic and environmental progress.”

ABB was recognised as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Global Industrial IoT Platforms, reflecting its commitment to developing AI and IoT solutions that improve efficiency and sustainability.
