The third International Forum on Water Security and Sustainability has been held in Nanjing, China. More than 1,000 representatives from more than 10 countries attended the forum including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Switzerland and other relevant river basin institutions, scientific research institutes, universities and international organisations.
The forum focused on four themes: integrated basin management, climate change and risk, water ecology and water engineering and water resource protection and utilisation. Interdisciplinary academic exchanges took place amongst scholars, scientists, technological workers and policy makers in the field of water science from all over the world, with the aim of solving the most urgent water problems of today.
After the opening ceremony, a report was delivered on the theme of “integrated river basin management”. Experts and scholars from different countries also gave lectures on the theme of “climate change and risk management”. The final section of the forum focused on “Yangtze River Protection and green development”. Information was shared to provide solutions to cope with the water challenges that China currently faces.
The forum served as an opportunity to gather talent resources from all over the world. It also highlighted the importance of ecological priority and green development moving forward in order to achieve water security and sustainability.
