Kamstrup Water Metering, LLC, a global leader in smart metering technology, opened the doors at its new North American headquarters and manufacturing facility in Forsyth County, Georgia, on Thursday.
Based in Denmark with employees in over 20 countries, Kamstrup is a leading supplier of intelligent metering solutions and services, working to reduce waste and optimize the production and distribution of clean water and energy. Kamstrup began operating in the United States in 2013. Here in North America, Kamstrup is focused on supporting water utilities with ultrasonic metering solutions, network communications, and software applications.
With this move, Kamstrup has grown its North American operations and manufacturing capacity, expanding into a 150,000-square-foot space at Forsyth Commerce Center in Cumming. It’s a move that underscores the company’s commitment to the industry and its ambitions.
“Our Georgia address is a key part of our strategy,” said Bruce Bharat, Vice President and Country Manager for Kamstrup. “We considered 13 other cities across the Southeast, but stayed in Atlanta because it makes sense. Atlanta is a global hub for innovation and Kamstrup is a technology-driven company. Our expanded facility matches our commitment to bringing our customers the industry’s most advanced and reliable water metering solutions. We’re proud to commit to the future of the Atlanta region and we’re glad to bring more manufacturing to the region.”
For over 70 years, utilities around the world have trusted Kamstrup to deliver reliable meter solutions. In North America and around the world, Kamstrup’s quality and accuracy help water utilities respond to challenges, including decreasing supply, increasing costs, and growing populations. With honest, reliable, and precise metering solutions, Kamstrup is bringing transparency and accountability to the water industry. Products include residential, commercial, and industrial meters featuring solid-state, ultrasonic technology, and software designed to analyse data and digitize water utility operations. U.S. customers include utilities in El Paso, TX; Jackson, MS; Madison County, AL; and Greer, SC.
“I’m so excited about Kamstrup. We continue to work tirelessly to make sure that we have a great business environment,” Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said at the ribbon cutting ceremony. “I just want to again thank Søren [Kvorning, Kamstrup CEO] for their confidence in the state of Georgia and Forsyth County and for believing in this business environment, in this local community. And just want to wish Bruce and the rest of the local team, your customers and suppliers that are all here today, the best. As I told Søren and the ambassador [of Denmark], it doesn’t matter to us where a company is headquartered, whether it’s around the United States or the world. If they have a facility that is in our state, we’re going to treat them like a Georgia-based company. And that is what we’re going to do not only today but also as you grow into the future.”
Kamstrup worked with JLL Executive Vice President Joey Kline on the lease.
“As Kamstrup continues its global expansion, finding a facility capable of supporting its growth trajectory was crucial,” stated JLL’s Kline. “The new location acts as their North America headquarters, strategically chosen in the metro Atlanta area for its diverse talent, efficient transportation and cost-effective operations. Kamstrup’s 15-year commitment to Forsyth Commerce Center, increasing its industrial footprint to over four times its previous capacity, underscores the company’s strong dedication to this region.”
