South West Water will accelerate £130m investment plans, after provisional plans were put forward to Ofwat.
The schemes will further improve the resilience of the networks which will benefit customers, communities and the environment.
These include:
• Smarter, healthier homes Helping customers in Cornwall and Bristol to reduce their usage and their bills through smart meters in Cornwall and cutting leakage from customers’ pipes.
• Accelerating the delivery of treatment upgrades along the rivers Camel and Axe catchments, protecting the rivers from population growth in the area.
• Storm overflows and nature-based approach: Accelerating the pace of storm overflows improvements in our region, including Sidmouth and Falmouth and taking forward nature-based solutions.

We continue to invest in water resources to boost water resilience with innovation solutions such as repurposing redundant quarries and mines to store water, and desalination for the first time on UK mainland.“There’s never been a more important time to invest in our water network with the impacts of drought, climate change, population growth and increasing demand for our services.”
