“Engaging with the Blue Economy” Series Opens on March 30 with Focus on Shipping Decarbonization
The Ocean Exchange, a leader in supporting the acceleration of innovative solutions for healthy oceans and the sustainable blue economy, and the Marine Technology Society (MTS), the leading international community of ocean scientists and engineers, practitioners, policy makers, and educators, are partnering again to present a series of quarterly webcasts in 2022.
The series kicks off with a focus on “Shipping Decarbonization” on March 30 from 11 am – 12 pm (EDT), featuring Andrew Moffat, Office of Global Change, U.S. Department of State; Natalia Mykhalova, Co-founder and CEO of WeavAir; and David Cummins, President of the Blue Sky Maritime Coalition. Dain Dunston will once again emcee the webcast.
Based in Canada, WeavAir was presented with the 2021 Ocean Exchange Collegiate Award of $25,000 for a system for vessel emission monitoring and predictive algorithms for regulatory compliance and operating cost savings.
“These well-attended webcasts provide an ideal way to discuss solutions to important issues. Each program leverages the points of view of respected industry veterans and developers of the next generation of technology solutions. We are grateful for their participation and also for the support of our partner, MTS, in presenting these informative and though-provoking events,” noted Millicent Pitts, Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of the Ocean Exchange.
MTS President Zdenka Willis said she is grateful for the continued partnership with Ocean Exchange and the opportunity to discuss developments in marine technology with hundreds of participants. “This webcast series has created engagement and conversations around key issues with the new Blue Economy. Our speakers who have come from industry, academia, and government, provide knowledge and context to further the discussion around developing new technologies and partnerships.”
The next Blue Economy webcasts will take place on June 19 (Offshore Winds), September 28 and December 14. Each event features one or more established industry experts and an innovative new entrant. All webcasts in this series are free to attend. For more information, visit the Ocean Exchange, and click here to register for the March event.
